Tracetek: Distributed Leak Sensors
Problem: Back in the day, computers were large and kept in special rooms with cooling provided by water pumped through pipes! Those pipes were usually under the floor or behind a wall and prone to springing a leak… You would not know you had a problem until you found a puddle of water on the floor or worse!
Solution: Building off the “plastic electrode” concept we developed and patented a series of long line thin cable sensors that could be run alongside water lines (or chemical pipes in the case of industrial plants) and instantly provide the precise location of a leak. The technology was expand beyond water with sensors that detect acids, bases, hydrocarbons, etc. etc. Today you may find these sensors in residential or commercial buildings as well as industrial settings.
