Problem / Opportunity:  University researchers discovered that an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) could be used to sense the presence to minute amounts of chemicals or biological materials. But, could it be made selective and was there a practical use beyond publications?

Solution:  Working with the inventors we created a new company to develop the technology and created tiny microcantilever chips coupled to analyte sensing polymers to detect a wide range of chemicals and a device to monitor the hydration level of athletes.
